The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
The SLS AMG has been with us for such a short time, and I’m a little upset to report to you that Mercedes could be announcing its “final edition” in next weeks LA Auto Show.
Although the SLS was viewed as a somewhat unimpressive supercar when it came to performance and handling, there was something extremely special about it. The amazing AMG V-8 monster under the hood of the SLS howled with a raspy and deep tone. The car had an element of fun to it, it added humor and charm to the Mercedes line. Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson even called the SLS AMG Black Series vehicle “a big, daft orange dog.” “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..” The SLS AMG made headlines in all of the automotive magazines and television, but Mercedes wants to drive their performance cars into another direction: which has been made clear with the new Mercedes E55 AMG, which has four wheel drive and immense grip. Unfortunately, the SLS was just not selling enough, so it seems like Mercedes will end this fantastic car which brought back the traditional gullwing doors from the original Mercedes-Benz 300SL.
